About Me:
DJ/Producer/Promoter/Publisher. Lady Duracell is a London based house DJ, widely known for her prime-time radio shows on Passion fm, where she has been a resident for almost 7 years, and for working on the club circuit since ’99. She has played at practically every major venue & promotion, including Koko, MOS, Pacha, Turnmills, Canvas, Cross, Egg and many more. Her seamless mixing, tune selection, and positive energy, lights up the dancefloor whenever & wherever she plays. Lady Duracell is a versatile DJ, never one to be boxed in by one genre of house, as long as it’s quality house it’ll be in her vast collection, which dates back to the earliest sounds of house, although deep and soulful house is closest to her heart. In 2003 she was voted 4th best UK female DJ in the UK People’s Choice Awards – the only house DJ in the top 10. In 2006 she was voted 57th worldwide & 15th UK in the Shejay Top 100 female DJ poll, despite the fact that she had never played outside of the UK. Since then she made her international debut in Ibiza in the new Love Club, for FunkIn You, for whom she has been a resident since it began in 2004. Aside from Djing, she is often sought after for her writing skills, and currently has her own column ‘Lady Duracell’s House Nation’ for RPM Magazine online. Lady Duracell also runs a very successful party promotion - Queen of Funk Presents Get Lifted. These parties have been held twice at London's Pacha, twice at The White House, and in Sept '07 it was held inconjunction with International DJ Roger Sanchez' Release Yourself night at the legendary Koko. As well as being a DJ tutor in the past, Lady Duracell is also a producer in her own right, under the name of Queen of Funk. Her first production ‘Es Paradis’ caused quite a stir in 2006, making it to number 9 in the HMV house chart. With more productions in the pipeline, Queen of Funk, is the name to look out for. In 2007 Lady Duracell was asked to choose, license & mix the music for Nell McAndrew’s fourth fitness DVD, a project she was very proud to be a part of, and which is in the shops now. www.nellmcandrew.tv for further info.
